Top 5 Tips for Traveling with Your Little Ones

1. KEEP IT SIMPLE – do your best not to get overwhelmed or over pack. My “pre-vacation planning” life changed when I finally realized that if I forget to pack something, I can most likely purchase it at our destination. Relax.

2. MAKE A LIST – categorize your list of items for your kids (ie: clothes, diapers, medicine, bottles, must-have with you toys, stuff to pack for the airplane)

3. AIRPORT NECESSITIES – The three most important items for the airport traveler with kids are a gogo Kidz Travelmate or Infant Cruizer, car seat and a back pack. What these items will do for you:

a. The gogo Kidz Travelmate and Infant Cruizer, allow you to not only get your car seat through the airport but allows your child a fun smooth ride through the airport (this means that they are safely and conveniently harnessed in their car seat as you stroll your way to your gate or stand in line at security). All this and you still have one hand free for your boarding pass and ID.

b. Your car seat. Even if you are not purchasing a seat on the plane, you will most likely NEED your car seat at your final destination (even for the taxi cab rides). The Travelmate and Cruizer, not only assist in transporting your car seat but also assist in transporting your child through the airport. If you do not have a seat for your child on the plane, simply gate check either item with the car seat attached, this is especially nice for layovers as you have access to your “airport stroller” helping you and your family to get to your next gate or baggage claim.

c. A back pack. A back pack is just as important as the Travelmate/Cruizer and car seat. A back pack frees up your hands, which you NEED at the airport. A back pack can fit all your airplane necessities. If it doesn’t…you are packing too much!

4. AIRPLANE NECESSITIES FOR THE KIDS: There are certain things that you must, must, must pack in your back pack for the airport/airplane.

a. When traveling with a baby: Bottle and or nursing blanket, pacifier (if your baby uses one), Advil, Motrin or Tylenol, baby blanket, diapers, wipes, a change of clothes (never know when the diaper is going to leak or spit up happens) and a couple favorite toys.

b. When traveling with a toddler: sippy cup, snacks, Advil, Motrin or Tylenol, diapers and wipes (if needed), a change of clothes (spills happen!) a couple toys/books, dvd player and dvds.

5. AIRPLANE NECESSITIES FOR THE PARENT(S): No need to over do it or pack a lot of airplane entertainment for yourself. You will most likely spend your time entertaining your little one(s). However, if you do manage to have a sleeping child on the plane or one that is entertained by a movie, your ipod/iphone, favorite magazine or a book can provide a nice moment for yourself.
