“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”  – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Welcome to part seven of the Go-Go Babyz origin story. I encourage you to go back to part one if you are just discovering this gem. I also encourage comments and feedback throughout this series. I am delivering this in a storytelling manner as opposed to a historical, text book style. I think it is more entertaining that way and because that that is how my brain works… I break thoughts into story-like groups, and paint pictures in my mind… Maybe it’s an introverted, Pisces thing. But I hope you have enjoyed it so far.

So, where are we? Ah yes…We are rocking and rolling bringing in and shipping out, container after container of product. By this point we have strollers, Travelmates, the Infant Cruizer, accessories…we have even started selling products from another manufacture that compliment ours…We even signed a license agreement with another inventor, adding a product that fits our niche.

We were riding high, climbing the coaster to the top. We had a warehouse full of product, a front office full of employees, cash in the bank…We were looking pretty good so we kept expanding…we added an in house engineer and began to focus on product development…Because most of the containers rolling in and shipping out were our top seller…The Travelmate; Our golden egg…Our one golden egg.

There we were, investing in our growth. We were adding staff and product to mitigate the risk of frying our golden egg. So, while we are at it, why don’t we go global? So global we go…into Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Jerusalem…

Just a quick note…I should point out at this point that as a family, we are down to one business. We had to finally lie to rest the dead dog we were dragging around. Start up number one was officially closed for business, leaving us with a garage full of inventory and a black hole of debt. But hey, it happens. It was quite the education; lesson learned for less than an MBA, well maybe less…But nevertheless, I am now all in at Go-Go Babyz.

To recap…Go-Go Babyz is riding the wave to the top. We have 90% of our business riding on one pony. We have doubled our product line. We have doubled our employee costs. We have expanded into three different international regions. We have an engineer flying back and forth to China working on our next revolutionary product. We have containers in production for the US, Europe, Australia, and Jerusalem…

And, we have not one but two larger companies release products competing with our pony…

Going down? Yup…The roller coaster stopped short and started heading down…The wave broke early, and it wasn’t a sandy break…

Obviously, we survived. The question is How?…What did we do?…Why did we do it?…

Stay tuned for the answers…
